Alexis Silvestra

I'm Alexis, a 23 year old indie pop singer/ songwriter from Johannesburg.
I recently released my debut single 'Radio Silence' in November 2022 and am set to drop a few singles leading up to the release of my debut EP, which will come out later this year.
Music has always been a very influential part of my life and I grew up being exposed to a range of music from different artists and genres and now I find myself being inspired by the diverse sounds, elements and musical choices that I have clung onto and which subconsciously (and also consciously) make their way into my sound. I think one of my biggest inspirations is Taylor Swift, because firstly, I found her music at a very impressionable age and secondly, because the way she, not only writes lyrics but creates her songs, is just something that has been so evidently impactful on how I go about writing my songs. I very much write narratives and stories that can be both based on personal experience and also ignited by fiction, existing stories, characters and observations, that I pair with real, personal emotions.
I write to hopefully create a form of art that can resonate with anyone who listens, making them feel understood or heard.
A little fun fact about me is that I'm also active on YouTube; releasing covers and originals, and last year I uploaded a song I wrote based off the book 'The Song of Achilles', which has actually just hit 10k views - which is really crazy and big for me, but really exciting!

In a nutshell, pursuing music has always been a dream and at the moment I'm just navigating being an independent female artist in South Africa and trying my best to grow everyday.
